About the artist

My name is Laerke Nissen and I am a Danish born artist, living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
‘I Breathe Creativity’ is a phrase that best describes my relation to Creativity.

As a little girl I didn’t have brothers and sisters. Being creative in my room
was where I spent most of my time; drawing, writing, playing percussion and dancing.

I never felt alone or lonely though, because I was always creating things that interested me.
Some people, as they grow up, slowly let go of the playfulness and creative moments and I guess I just never did.

I am also amazed by people. Our personal stories, life experiences and how we all walk through life in our own unique way.
The Soulportrait artpieces represent my believe that we are all pieces of art.

Every human being is unique and we all have a comprehensive life full of stories, memories, emotions and feelings and the abstract Watercolor and Alcohol Ink landscapes in my art symbolise this. The colorfull energies that we all behold, flowing and everchanging…

I love characters. People (who consciously choose to or not) simply stand out from the crowd. Who have a unique look and dare to truly be themselves, in all their uniqueness. Who don’t necessarily try to fit in, but rather just stand out.

Imagine what the world would look like and feel like if we would all fully live our unique self. Each wearing the clothes that we feel comfortabel in and maybe even called to wear.

Doing for a living what makes our heart sing and from joy and passion share with the world and the people around us, what we are truly here to do.

Sacred Geometry plays a central part in my life, as I consider myself a spiritual person and Sacred Geometry reminds me of the holy connections between all existence in life.

My abstract art-pieces hold Watercolor, Alcohol Ink and often I incorporate Sacred Geometry.
These pieces for me symbolize the crossover and contrast between the solid, visible forms in life and the abstract, unseen and unconscious – yet very real part of life.

Constantly playing with each other and forming the whole of our existence
and how we experience ourselves, each other and life as a whole.
With my art I like to remind us what amazing beings we all are.

May we all every day dare to reveal more and more of our unique self and shine our light in the world.
May we focus on living in peace and acceptance of each other.
May we come closer together instead of drifting apart.
May we live a life as it is meant to be lived – in joy, love, abundance and gratitude.

My art is my Ode to this beautiful Life that we have been given.
